UNU-IAS Launches Report on Innovation in Responding to Climate Change

Innovation in Responding to Climate Change: Nanotechnology, Ocean Energy and Forestry 10 December 2008: At a side event to the UN Climate Change Conference taking place in Poznań, Poland, the UN University Institute of Advanced Studies (UNU-IAS) launched a new report entitled “Innovation in Responding to Climate Change: Nanotechnology, Ocean Energy and Forestry.”

The report offers three solutions in responding to climate change, namely nanotechnology, ocean energy and forestry. It assesses the opportunities and challenges that each type of innovation presents, and addresses the question why these innovations, despite their large mitigation potential, have not yet reached the stage of mass commercialization. In this regard, it indicates that ocean energy alone could cover the world’s electricity needs [The Report]
