4 March 2010: During the 13th session of the Human Rights Council, taking place in Geneva, Switzerland, from 1-26 March 2010, Navanethem Pillay, High Commissioner for Human Rights, presented her report, which covers activities undertaken by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in 2009, including those aimed at raising awareness of the human rights implications of climate change-related effects.
16 December 2009: The World Food Programme (WFP) has launched a pilot programme in Sudan and Uganda to provide fuel-efficient stoves to approximately 150,000 women, to reduce the risk of violence that women face when collecting firewood as well as to protect women’s health, the local environment and reduce carbon emissions.

14 December 2009: The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has reported on how environmental, climatic, geological and demographic factors are affecting the ability of Pacific Islanders to remain in their homelands. 
3 November 2009: In an address to the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly (social, humanitarian and cultural issues), UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Antonio Guterres highlighted that mega-trends are causing humanitarian crises to multiply and to deepen. 
3 November 2009: On the margins of the UNFCCC talks taking place in Barcelona, Spain, UN-Water presented a key message on Water and Climate Change Adaptation prepared for the 15th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP15). 
10 June 2009: The UN University’s Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS), CARE International and Columbia University’s Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN) launched a report titled “In Search of Shelter: Mapping the Effects of Climate Change on Human Migration and Displacement” during the Bonn climate change talks.
8 June 2009: During the climate change talks taking place in Bonn, Germany, the 18 UN and non-UN aid agencies that constitute the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) called for integrating measures to counter the humanitarian impacts of climate change into the new climate change agreement.
