It is projected that climate change will add to the existing problems of land degradation and desertification, and affect land through drought, flooding and other impacts. In addition, when the land is degraded, it emits more greenhouse gases and in turn exacerbates climate change. This section covers issues related to the relationship between these two phenomena, and the role of soil in climate change mitigation and adaptation.
