UN Secretary-General's Advisory Board on Water and Sanitation Releases Hashimoto Action Plan II

9 February 2010: The UN Secretary-General’s Advisory Board on Water and Sanitation (UNSGAB) has released the Hashimoto Action Plan II (HAP II), which aims to motivate, convene and galvanize its partners to achieve the water-related Millennium Development Goals over the next three years in five key areas: financing; sanitation; monitoring and reporting; integrated water resources management (IWRM); and water and disaster.

International Basin Organizations Network Meeting Examines Effects of Climate Change on Hydrological Cycles

23 January 2010: The eighth World General Assembly of the International Basin Organizations Network was held in Dakar, Senegal, from 20-23 January 2010, and brought together over 260 water experts from 41 countries to focus on effective management of Africa’s 59 trans-frontier river basins and the positive economic benefits of harnessing their waters for hydropower and irrigation.

Event: 33rd Session of IFAD's Governing Council

The 33rd session of the Governing Council of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) will include a high level panel on: "From summit resolutions to farmers' field: climate change, food security and smallholder agriculture." The panel will discuss how to transform summit declarations into reality. Side events will focus on managing water resources in the context of climate change, natural resource management in sub-Saharan Africa, IFAD's Rural Poverty Report 2010, and smallholder farming in Asia and Latin America.
