9 February 2010: The UN Secretary-General’s Advisory Board on Water and Sanitation (UNSGAB) has released the Hashimoto Action Plan II (HAP II), which aims to motivate, convene and galvanize its partners to achieve the water-related Millennium Development Goals over the next three years in five key areas: financing; sanitation; monitoring and reporting; integrated water resources management (IWRM); and water and disaster.
23 January 2010: The eighth World General Assembly of the International Basin Organizations Network was held in Dakar, Senegal, from 20-23 January 2010, and brought together over 260 water experts from 41 countries to focus on effective management of Africa’s 59 trans-frontier river basins and the positive economic benefits of harnessing their waters for hydropower and irrigation. 
30 January 2010: During a visit to an integrated bioeconomy system project in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon underscored that Ethiopia is one of the countries that has suffered the consequences of climate change, in particular due to deforestation.
2 February 2010: World Wetlands Day was celebrated on 2 February 2010 around the theme “Wetlands, Biodiversity and Climate Change,” with the slogan “Caring for wetlands: an answer to climate change.”
31 January 2010: Silva Mediterranea, a statutory body of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) that provides a forum for discussion on forestry issues in Mediterranean countries, has released its second newsletter. This issue focuses on forest genetic resources as a key issue for adaptation of Mediterranean forests to climate change. 
25 January 2010: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has announced that it will provide a US$0.7 million grant, financed by the Government of Japan, to build the capacity of Bhutan’s National Environment Commission for developing mitigation and adaptation measures that can counter climate change. 
22 January 2009: As part of its ongoing efforts to promote eco-friendly sports, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has announced a partnership with the Indian Premier League (IPL) to reduce its carbon footprint.
20 January 2010: The World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) has informed on its ongoing work towards the establishment of a Global Cryosphere Watch to serve societal needs for weather, climate and water, and related environmental information and services. 
January 2010: The Hamburg University of Applied Sciences has opened a call for papers for the third worldwide online conference CLIMATE 2010/KLIMA 2010, which will take place from 1-7 November 2010.
