Discussions at this workshop will focus on addressing issues related to the proposed options for forest management accounting, in particular the construction and use of reference levels. Participants will address the need for greater transparency in the reporting of approaches for construction of reference levels, implications of different construction approaches and the need for a process to review reference levels.
The "Geneva Dialogue on Climate Financing," which is co-organized by the Governments of Switzerland and Mexico, will help prepare for the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC scheduled to take place in Cancún, Mexico, at the end of 2010, and will focus on the long-term financing of climate protection. Participants are expected to discuss the overall architecture of the financial mechanism, including the new Climate Fund, as well as private sector engagement, governance and funding sources.

9 July 2010: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published a document containing a second iteration of text to facilitate negotiations among parties under the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA) (FCCC/AWGLCA/2010/8).
9 July 2010: The US State Department has announced that US Special Envoy for Climate Change Todd Stern will travel to Latin America, together with Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Arturo Valenzuela, from 10-15 July 2010, to discuss several climate change issues.

7 July 2010: The UN University (UNU) hosted a lecture by Patricia Espinosa, Mexico's Secretary of Foreign Affairs and the Chair of the upcoming 16th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP16), on 5 July 2010. She discussed Mexico's preparations for COP 16, which will convene in Cancun, Mexico, at the end of 2010.
6 July 2010: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published the annotated provisional agenda (FCCC/KP/AWG/2010/8) for the 13th session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol (AWG-KP 13), which will be held in conjunction with the 11th session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA 11), from 2-6 August 2010, in Bonn, Germany.
