The meeting is organized by the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) and aims to prepare a unified Pacific position on biodiversity for the tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 10) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). Key issues that will be discussed at the meeting include: climate change and biodiversity; invasive species; marine and coastal biodiversity; protected areas; sustainable financing; forest biodiversity; access and benefit sharing; traditional knowledge and agriculture biodiversity. In addition, the meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss the new SPREP Strategic Plan and Targets and linkages with the other multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs).
