The Pacific Islands Forum is a regional political and economic policy institution comprising 14 Pacific Island countries, Australia and New Zealand. This meeting, marking the 40th anniversary of the Forum, will be hosted by the Government of New Zealand.
This Conference is organized by the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), together with the African Association of Remote Sensing of the Environment (AARSE), the Ethiopian Mapping Agency (EMA) and the GIS Society of Ethiopia (GSSE). It aims to bring together scholars and professionals from the African and international geo-spatial information science community to present latest achievements, discuss challenges and share experience. The Conference is organized around four themes: food and water security; energy resources; disaster risk reduction; and marine and coastal management.
5 August 2010: The 41st meeting of the Pacific Islands Forum, which took place in Port Vila, Vanuatu, from 4-5 August 2010, concluded with the issuance of a Communiqué, which contains a section on climate change.

30 July 2010: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published a submission (FCCC/AWGLCA/2010/MISC.5) from the Cook Islands on emissions from international shipping and aviation under ideas and proposals on the elements contained in paragraph 1 of the Bali Action Plan (BAP).
23 July 2010: The 2010 Substantive Session of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) convened for its 43rd session in New York, US, from 28 June-23 July 2010. On 21 July, ECOSOC considered recommendations from its subsidiary bodies, including the Committee for Development Policy, which addressed policy coherence on the climate change agenda in relation to its financial architecture and to other development agendas.
July 2010: The Danone wet carbon partnership, an initiative of the Ramsar Secretariat, IUCN and Danone, has extended the deadline for submission of project proposals that can deliver certified carbon credits and local community benefits through restoring mangrove ecosystems.
14 June 2010: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) World Conservation Monitoring Centre (WCMC) and partners have released the first global assessment of mangroves in over a decade: the World Atlas of Mangroves.
14 July 2010: The International Maritime Organization (IMO) held a meeting in London, UK, on 14 July 2010, with representatives from the shipping industry to review, inter alia, progress on climate change issues.
14 July 2010: The UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) is providing assistance in identifying opportunities to introduce algae biomass production in the Russian Federation through a project on the development of sustainable biomass trade and export opportunities.
