The objectives of this Conference are to: analyze the structural and systemic causes that drive climate change and propose measures to ensure the well-being of all humanity in harmony with nature; discuss and agree on the project of a Universal Declaration of Mother Earth Rights; agree on proposals for new commitments to the Kyoto Protocol and projects for a COP Decision under the UNFCCC to address climate debt, climate change migrants-refugees, emission reductions, adaptation, technology transfer, finance, forests, a shared vision, and indigenous peoples; work on the organization of the World People’s Referendum on Climate Change; analyze and develop an action plan to advance the establishment of a Climate Justice Tribunal; and define strategies for action and mobilization to defend life from Climate Change and to defend the Rights of Mother Earth.

15 March 2010: The UN Secretary-General has released a report titled “Keeping the promise: a forward-looking review to promote an agreed action agenda to achieve the Millennium Development Goals by 2015” (A/64/665). The report presents information on progress made in achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and calls for a new pact to accelerate the progress in achieving the goals. 
10 March 2010: The UN Development Programme (UNDP) has released a report titled “Screening Tools and Guidelines to Support the Mainstreaming of Climate Change Adaptation into Development Assistance – A Stocktaking Report.” 
8 March 2010: The 15th meeting of the Poverty Environment Partnership (PEP 15), which took place from 1-5 March 2010, in Lilongwe, Malawi, convened under the theme “Climate and Environment Mainstreaming and the Green Economy to Achieve the Millennium Development Goals.” 
1 March 2010: The International Food Policy Research Institute’s (IFPRI) new project, Global Futures for Agriculture, will evaluate promising technologies, investments and policy reforms to improve agricultural productivity and environmental sustainability in developing countries.
March 2010: The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) has released the January-March edition of “Rice Today.” This issue features three articles that address climate change issues. 
8 March 2010: During the Gulf Environment Forum 2010, which is being held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from 7-9 March 2010, under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz and with the support of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), Veerle Vandeweerd, UNDP Environment and Energy Group Director, called on Gulf States to exercise leadership in addressing both poverty and climate change challenges.
3 March 2010: The World Bank has presented Africa’s first large-scale forestry project to be registered under the Kyoto Protocol’s Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). The announcement was made on the margins on the annual Africa Carbon Forum, which is taking place in Nairobi, Kenya, from 3-5 March 2010.
