20 October 2010: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published submissions(FCCC/SBSTA/2010/MISC.7) from Canada, Belgium, on behalf of the EU, Japan and Norway on views on the revision of the UNFCCC Annex I reporting guidelines.
19 October 2010: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP)-based research consortium, The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB), has released its final report, "Mainstreaming the Economics of Nature: A synthesis of the approach, conclusions and recommendations of TEEB."
19 October 2010: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Regional Seas office has released the Marine Biodiversity Assessment and Outlook: Global Synthesis, which provides the first systematic overview at a sub-global scale of the state of knowledge of marine biodiversity, the pressures it currently faces and the management frameworks in place for addressing those pressures.
15 October 2010: At the World Food Prize Borlaug Dialogue held in Iowa City, Iowa, US, from 13-15 October 2010, Dennis Garrity, Director General of the World Agroforestry Centre, described the challenge of doubling food production by mid-century and combating climate change.
20 October 2010: The UN Environment Programme-World Conservation Monitoring Center (UNEP-WCMC) has launched carbon maps showing how carbon stocks in Asia, Africa and Latin America overlap with biodiversity hot spots. The maps were launched at the 10th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 10) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), convening in Nagoya, Japan.
15 October 2010: The Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC), together with the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ), provided training to Tongan Government staff on the use of customized software for assessing the effects of climate change.
October 2010: The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) published a technical note on "Climate Change: A Research Agenda for Latin America and the Caribbean" identifying the issues that need to be investigated for informed decision making at the national and regional levels with respect to climate change.
14 October 2010: The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) held its 32nd session from 11-14 October 2010, in Busan, Republic of Korea. Over the course of the meeting, contact groups met on issues including: IPCC processes and procedures; IPCC governance and management; and the scope of the Synthesis Report of the 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
13 October 2010: The Climate Information for Development in Africa (ClimDev-Africa) programme was officially launched on 13 October 2010, during the Seventh African Development Forum (ADF) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
12 October 2010: The World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) has released a review of its workshop on "Metrics and Methodologies of Estimation of Extreme Climate Events," which took place from 27-29 September 2010, in Paris, France.
