4 October 2010: The Global Forest Resources Assessment (FRA) 2010, prepared by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), was launched on the opening of the 20th session of the FAO Committee of Forestry (COFO).
29 September 2010: The World Trade Organization's (WTO) Trade and Environment Committee met in Geneva, Switzerland, and exchanged views on national experiences in carbon footprint schemes.
5 October 2010: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has completed its scheduled regional consultations for GEO-5. The consultations were convened in Washington DC, US (September 2), Panama City, Panama (September 6-7), Ottawa, Canada (September 9), Bangkok, Thailand (September 16-17), Nairobi, Kenya (September 20-21), Geneva, Switzerland (September 23-24) and Bahrain (October 4-5).
September 2010: At the World Meteorological Organization's (WMO) South American Regional Association meeting in Bogota, Colombia, delegates from 13 South American countries agreed on the need for efforts to provide better meteorological and hydrological services in the region.
1 October 2010: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released a note (CC/8/2010/6/Rev.1) that provides information on the status of submission and review of fifth national communications (NC5), and the annual reports submitted under decision 15/CMP.1, from Annex I Parties that are also parties to the Kyoto Protocol as at 7 September 2010.
October 2009: The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has posted documents for its 32nd session, which will take place from 11-14 October 2010, in Busan, Republic of Korea.
The World Trade Organization (WTO) Committee on Trade and Environment (CTE) will discuss experiences with product carbon footprint schemes.
27 September 2010: The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) has released a report, with the Asia Society, by a high-level Task Force on Food Security and Sustainability in Asia titled "Never an Empty Bowl: Sustaining Food Security in Asia."
The IPCC Expert Meeting Towards New Scenarios for Analysis of Emissions, Climate Change, Impacts, and Response Strategies (Noordwijkerhout, The Netherlands, 19-21 September 2007) called for the organization of a meeting of the integrated assessment and impacts and adaptation communities to develop a joint strategy for storyline development. The need for such an expert meeting was reiterated by the Task Group established by the IPCC during its 30th session in Antalya, Turkey (21-23 April 2009) to facilitate the catalytic role of the IPCC.
