Event: 2010 Social Forum on Climate Change and Human Rights [viewed]
The Office of the UN High Commissioner on Human Rights (OHCHR) will host the 2010 Social Forum on Climate Change and Human Rights, which will address: the adverse effects of climate change on the full enjoyment of human rights, including the right to life and economic, social and cultural rights; measures and actions to address the impact of climate change on the full enjoyment of human rights at the local, national, regional and international levels, including on most vulnerable groups, particularly women and children; and international assistance and cooperation in addressing the human rights related impact of climate change. The Forum is aimed to provide a dialogue avenue for NGOs to communicate with Human Rights Council (HRC) member States. The participants will include HRC member States, NGOs, UN agencies and academia representatives.
10 August 2010: In its latest media release, the UN-REDD Programme highlights several recent governance-related activities, describing the Programme's engagement of partners on governance issues and REDD+ (reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries, conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of carbon stocks) at conferences around the world.
30 July 2010: The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Executive Board (EB), at its 55th meeting, agreed to open a call for public inputs on focus areas for future practitioner workshops for CDM stakeholders.
20 July 2010: The UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the Government of Tanzania have successfully concluded a seven-year project, financed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), aimed to protect the biodiversity of forestland of the Eastern Arc reserve in Tanzania, 70% of which had been destroyed due to crop shifting and timber harvesting. 
6 July 2010: The European Commission has launched a public consultation in relation to the review of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Directive. The consultation covers, among other things, the development of synergies with other EU policies, such as climate change and biodiversity.
2 July 2010: The 12th meeting of the Working Group of the Parties to the Aarhus Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters was held in Geneva, Switzerland, from 30 June–2 July 2010, and addressed, inter alia, the application of the principles of the Convention in international fora.
2 July 2010: The UN-REDD Programme has provided an overview of activities undertaken to support improvement of national governance systems for the successful implementation of reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries, conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of carbon stocks ( REDD+). 
2 July 2010: The UN-REDD Programme's Policy Board approved an additional US$8.7 million to fund global activities aimed at supporting national REDD+ (reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries, conservation, sustainable management of forests, and enhancement of carbon stocks) readiness. 
June 2010: The Program on Forests (PROFOR) of the World Bank has released its latest newsletter, highlighting PROFOR's recent activities relating to forests and climate change.
