7 December 2008: On the sidelines of the 14th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC, taking place in Poznan, Poland, the UN Environment Programme’s (UNEP) Climate Neutral Network (CN Net), a coalition of public, private and governmental entities, has gained new participants.
12 November 2008: The UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO),
in partnership with the World Travel Market, held a Ministers’ Summit at the
World Travel Market in London, UK, on 11 November 2008, under the theme
“Responding to the Economic Downturn and Staying on Course with the Climate and
Poverty Reduction Agenda.” During the meeting, a new UNWTO Resilience Committee
was announced.
10 November 2008: The UN World Tourism Organization’s
(UNWTO) Business Council, with the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism, will convene a
UNWTO Regional Conference on Climate Solutions for the Tourism Industry for the
Middle Eastern and Mediterranean countries in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, from
23-24 November 2008.
31 October 2008: At the Conference for Women Leaders,
co-sponsored by the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Gender Equality and the UN
World Tourism Organization ST-EP (Sustainable Tourism for Eliminating Poverty)
Foundation, held on 31 October 2008, in Seoul, Republic of Korea, UN Deputy Secretary-General
Asha Rose Migiro highlighted the burden of climate change on women and the need
to work towards gender equality, including in decision-making.
24 October 2008: The Sixth International Tourism Forum for
Parliamentarians and Local Authorities convened in Cebu, Philippines, from
22-24 October 2008. Attendees considered how national and local governments could
respond to the current economic downturn and maintain their commitments to
sustainability goals.

report presents past and projected climate change and impacts in Europe, based
on approximately 40 indicators, and identifies sectors and regions that are
vulnerable and require adaptation.
