26 August 2010: Solomon Islands is the first country in the Pacific, and the fourth country worldwide, to qualify for the Adaptation Fund under the UNFCCC, which will finance projects in vulnerable developing countries aimed to help adapt their agricultural resources and food security to climate change threats.

18 August 2010: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has circulated the list of sponsored experts for the Global Expert Workshop on Biodiversity Benefits of Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation in Developing Countries (REDD), to be held from 20-23 September 2010, in Nairobi, Kenya.
This course is organized by the National Environmental Fund - FONAM PERU, with support from the Ministry of Environment of Peru, the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Risoe Center. It will include presentations on: Kyoto and Voluntary Markets; Post-Copenhagen perspectives; carbon project finance; and methodological and legal issues. In addition, the event will feature a workshop and a matchmaking session between carbon firms and project developers.
