28 June 2010: The Second Science with Africa Conference has ended with the adoption of recommendations on how African countries can leverage science and technology to carry forward their development agenda.
28 June 2010: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) hosted a side-event titled "Fostering a Green Economy Transformation in Africa" at the 13th session of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN), which convened from 20-25 June in Bamako, Mali. Initiatives to achieve green economy transformation in South Africa, Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda were presented.
28 June 2010: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has reported that its Billion Tree Campaign has successfully met and surpassed all targets that have been set for it.
18 June 2010: The UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has released the "Economic Development in Africa Report 2010-South-South Cooperation: Africa and the New Forms of Development Partnership," which examines the recent trends in the economic relationships of Africa with other developing countries, as well as new forms of partnership that have emerged in the past years.
24 June 2010: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) hosted Climate Change Days from 21-24 June 2010, at its headquarters in Rome, Italy.
This annual International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC), organized by Transparency International with the support of the Royal Thai Ministy of Justice, will focus on how global and national efforts to reduce poverty and to deliver on promises for sustainable development, human security, curbing illicit trade and climate control have not yet resulted in positive change. The UN Development Programme (UNDP) will organize a roundtable on REDD (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation in developing countries) and corruption, in partnership with GTZ. UNDP is also supporting the plenary on “Climate Governance: Ensuring a Collective Commitment” and is currently preparing a background overview paper mapping the corruption risks and anti-corruption opportunities related to climate change mitigation and adaptation.
25 June 2010: The UN Collaborative Programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (UN-REDD Programme), along with the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) and the Mexican Forestry Commission (CONAFOR), held a workshop titled “Measurement, reporting and verification (MRV), a roadmap for implementation at the country level,” from 22-24 June 2010, in Guadalajara, Mexico.
24 June 2010: The Climate Investment Funds (CIF) Sub-Committee meetings took place from 22-24 June 2010, in Washington DC, US. These included meetings of the following target programs of the CIF Strategic Climate Fund (SCF): the Program for Scaling Up Renewable Energy in Low Income Countries (SREP); the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR); and the Forest Investment Program (FIP).
24 June 2010: The UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) and the Government of Indonesia co-organized the third Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference on Housing and Urban Development (APMCHUD) in the city of Solo, Indonesia, from 22-24 June 2010.
18 June 2010: The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has awarded the International Meteorological Organization (IMO) Prize to several scientists at the 62nd meeting of its Executive Council, taking place from 8-18 June 2010, in Geneva, Switzerland.
