5 August 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published a report (FCCC/SBI/2009/8) of the 30th session of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI), which took place from 1-10 June 2009, in Bonn, Germany.
10 August 2009: Speaking in Seoul, Republic of Korea, at the 39th World Federation of UN Associations Plenary Assembly, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon stressed that climate change is “the greatest collective challenge we face as a human family.” 
6 August 2009: The 40th Pacific Islands Forum convened in Cairns, Australia, from 5-6 August 2009, and concluded with a call by Pacific leaders to action on climate change. 
4 August 2009: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has announced that the UN Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) has joined several other UN agencies and organizations that are encouraging governments to reach an ambitious and effective global climate agreement in Copenhagen this December, by supporting the UN’s “Seal the Deal!” campaign. 
31 July 2009: Jacques Diouf, UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Director-General, has sent a document to Ministers for Foreign Affairs, Development Cooperation and Agriculture of members of FAO and the UN to initiate the negotiation of a declaration for adoption by the World Summit of Heads of State and Government on Food Security, scheduled to take place from 16-18 November 2009, in Rome, Italy.
