24 November 2008: In an editorial published in the Japan Times, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon underscores that the financial crisis is unique and potentially overwhelming, and warns against the risk of it evolving into “tomorrow’s human crisis.”
23 November 2008: The sixteenth Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum economic leaders’ meeting was organized under the theme “A New Commitment to Asia-Pacific Development,” and convened in Lima, Peru, from 22-23 November 2008. The meeting concluded with the adoption of a declaration in which the economic leaders commit to enhance their cooperation to improve risk reduction and fight climate change. 
21 November 2008: The eighth Conference of the Parties to the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the 20th Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer (COP 8/MOP 20) took place in Doha, Qatar, from 16-20 November 2008. 
20 November 2008: In a video message to the symposium on climate change held at the Korean Academy of Science and Technology in Gyunggi-Do, Korea, from 20-21 November 2008, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon stressed that the science of climate change is clear and its effects risk getting worse. 
20 November 2008: UN environmental heads have welcomed US President-elect Obama’s statement in a video message to the Governors’ Global Climate Summit, which convened in Los Angeles, California, US, from 18-19 November 2008, that his presidency “will mark a new chapter in America’s leadership on climate change.”
