27 July 2009: The UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has reported that farmers have lost their crops in the drought-affected regions of southern Madagascar.
24 July 2009: The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has released the June edition of its newsletter titled “World Climate News,” which focuses on a Global Framework for Climate Services, the major expected outcome of the third World Climate Conference (WCC-3). WMP is organizing WCC-3, which will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, from 31 August-4 September 2009. 
16 July 2009: On 8 July 2009, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the World Food Programme (WFP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which reflects shared concerns about climate change issues and the relation between climate and meteorological aspects on the one hand, and hunger, nutrition and food security on the other. 
15 July 2009: In a speech to the High-Level Segment of the 15th Non-Aligned Movement Summit, which took place in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, from 15-16 July 2009, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon stated that, just as when the Non-Aligned Movement was founded, the world today faces complex crises threatening development and security. He pointed to the severe economic and financial crisis, and the effort to “Seal the Deal” on climate change in Copenhagen later this year. 
14 July 2009: Joëlle Chassard, Manager of the World Bank’s Carbon Finance Unit, engaged in an online chat with people from all over the world, responding to queries related to the Bank’s work on carbon finance on issues ranging from deforestation to financing clean energy for the poor. 
10 July 2009: In a press conference held at UN Headquarters in New York, US, Dessima Williams, Permanent Representative of Grenada and Chairperson of the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS), welcomed the statements on climate change made by the leaders of the G8 industrialized economies and the 17 participants in the Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate, who met in L’Aquila, Italy, noting they signal their growing and positive engagement with the on-going negotiations.
1 July 2009: In a speech to the 13th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU), taking place in Sirte, Libya, from 1-3 July 2009, Asha-Rose Migiro, UN Deputy Secretary-General, underlined that tackling climate change must be a top priority for Africa. 
29 June 2009: The UN Secretary-General welcomed the proposal on financing for climate change, called “Roadmap to Copenhagen,” which was announced by the UK Government.
