1 September 2009: Government leaders meeting in Kathmandu, Nepal, for the South Asia Regional Climate Change Conference “A Vision for Addressing Climate Change Risks and Vulnerabilities in the Himalayas” issued a Final Statement noting that South Asia, including the Hindu Kush-Himalayan region, is a climate change hot spot that influences the lives of half of the world’s population, is highly vulnerable to the adverse impacts of climate change, and is characterized by critical knowledge gaps, especially of mountain ecosystems within and across its constituent units.
7 September 2009: The UN Development Programme (UNDP) has announced the re-launch of the Adaptation Learning Mechanism (ALM) website. 
3 September 2009: On the occasion of the World Climate Conference-3 (WCC-3), which convened in Geneva, Switzerland, from 31 August-3 September 2009, UN Development Programme (UNDP) Administrator Helen Clark spoke on the need to improve climate prediction for climate risk management to safeguard progress made towards the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and poverty reduction in general. 
2 September 2009: The Africa Partnership Forum’s (APF) one-day high-level session on climate change in Africa concluded with an expression of the region’s determination to make a significant contribution to efforts at reducing global emissions. 
1 September 2009: During a meeting with Danish Minister of Development Cooperation Ulla Toernaes, UN Development Programme (UNDP) Administrator Helen Clark received a torch symbol of the Millennium Development Goal on gender equality and women empowerment (MDG3). 
August 2009: This paper, authored by Glwadys Aymone Gbetibouo and Claudia Ringler and published by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), analyzes the vulnerability of South African farmers to climate change and variability by developing a vulnerability index and comparing vulnerability indicators across the country’s nine provinces. 
24 August 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published thirteen examples of best practices for businesses to help the poor to adapt while increasing profitability. 
August 2009: The International Water Management Institute (IWMI) has released a Water Policy Brief addressing “Flexible Water Storage Options and Adaptation to Climate Change.”
August 2009: The World Bank has announced 100 finalists of the Development Marketplace contest on Climate Change Adaptation. Twenty-five of them will receive grants of up to US$200,000 to implement their projects over two years.
