11 January 2010: The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has released a report examining the potential for organic agriculture to sequester carbon and meet carbon accounting requirements, including permanence, leakage and additionality.
January 2010: The five UN Regional Commissions have released a report on the support they provide, by region and thematic area, to combating climate change, titled "The United Nations Regional Commissions and the Climate Change Challenges."
January 2010: The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has released a book titled "Climate Change and Arctic Sustainable Development," with forewords by HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco and the UNESCO Director-General. 
3 January 2010: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has highlighted its efforts to promote a low carbon, resource efficient Green Economy in the 21st century. According to UNEP, its strategy has focused on three priority areas: ecosystems-based adaptation; reduced emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries (REDD); and clean technology readiness.
30 December 2009: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has extended the Online Access to Research in the Environment (OARE) project to Yemen, with a view to transferring scientific knowledge that may contribute to fighting climate change, food crises and water scarcity.
15 December 2009: The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) co-sponsored the Inter-Regional Workshop on Indices and Early Warning Systems for Drought, which took place at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, US, from 8-11 December 2009.
December 2009: As part of the UN Secretary-General and the UN Chief Executives Board on Coordination (CEB) commitment to move the UN system towards climate neutrality, the UN Development Programme (UNDP) completed a headquarters greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory and a global GHG inventory. 
16 December 2009: At a side event held during the UN Copenhagen Climate Change Conference, the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (UNECLAC) released a study that identifies the economic impacts of climate change on the region.
16 December 2009: At a side event held during the UN Copenhagen Climate Change Conference, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) launched its Climate Education Programme, which draws on the money received for the Nobel Peace Prize.
