Japan-CARICOM Public Symposium on Climate Change and Biodiversity

This public symposium is co-organized by the UN University (UNU), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). It will be held back-to-back with the second Japan-Caribbean Community (CARICOM) ministerial-level conference and will bring together the foreign ministers of the 15 CARICOM member countries. The ministers will be joined by Japanese academics and experts to discuss the threats from climate change faced by CARICOM countries, in particular those that are small island States. These include more frequent and intense hurricanes, subsequent flooding and erosion, and rising sea level. The symposium will also explore further cooperation between CARICOM and Japan.
