11 December 2009: UN Environment Programme-World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC) has launched a series of reports on climate change and biodiversity at the UN Copenhagen Climate Change Conference.
December 2009: The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has published a working paper, authored by Katia Karousakis, on promoting biodiversity co-benefits with reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries (REDD).
8 December 2009: The UN Development Programme (UNDP), the World Bank, IUCN, The Nature Conservancy, Wildlife Conservation and WWF have released a report titled "Natural Solutions: protected areas helping people cope with climate change."
7 December 2009: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has set up a webpage for posting relevant CBD documents and statements on linkages between climate change and biodiversity for the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark.
30 November 2009: The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) launched a guide titled "Biodiversity and Livelihoods: REDD Benefits," which provides an array of tools and examples for how synergies in the implementation of the UNFCCC and the CBD can be achieved through reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries (REDD).
18 November 2009: On the occasion of the expert workshop on scientific and technical aspects relevant to environmental impact assessment in marine areas beyond national jurisdiction, held from 18-20 November 2009, in Manila, the Philippines, Ahmed Djoghlaf, Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), highlighted that recent global marine environmental assessments have observed a serious deterioration of the marine environment, further exacerbated by the effects of climate change.
