16 June 2009: The UN Collaborative Programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation in Developing Countries (UN-REDD Programme) held its second Policy Board Meeting from 14-15 June 2009, in Montreux, Switzerland.
3 June 2009: On the occasion of the first Global Private Donor Forum on Biodiversity, which took place in Berlin, Germany, on 3 June 2009, Ahmed Djoghlaf, Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), referred to the interlinkages between climate change and biodiversity loss. 
22 May 2009: On the occasion of the International Biodiversity Day, the Secretariat of the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) stressed that the ever-growing human demand for energy and its consequences represent an omnipresent yet invisible threat to gorillas and their habitats. 
12 May 2009: The Communication, Education, Participation and Awareness (CEPA) Programme of the Ramsar Secretariat has released advance information on Worlds Wetlands Day 2010, which will be celebrated on 2 February around the theme “Wetlands, Biodiversity, and Climate Change.” The theme relates to 2010 being proclaimed the International Year of Biodiversity and to the impacts of climate change for present and future wetland ecosystem health.
