28 May 2009: The World Bank approved a US$600 million loan to fund energy efficiency and renewable energy in Turkey. 
27 May 2009: In a speech delivered at Carbon Expo 2009 in Barcelona, Spain, John Kilani, on behalf of UNFCCC Executive Secretary Yvo de Boer, underlined that markets and market-based mechanisms are an integral part of the broader, global architecture being put in place to address climate change. 
26 May 2009: A collaborative study by the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) suggests that increased demand for biofuels and, to a lesser extent, increased land values through emerging carbon markets, are among the factors that drive international land acquisition deals. 
26 May 2009: Speaking at the World Business Summit on Climate Change, which took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 24-26 May 2009, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called on the over 500 participating business leaders to use their business acumen to urge government leaders to reach an agreement on reducing greenhouse gases at the 15th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP15) in December 2009.
